Diesel replacement · designed for your site

Replace diesel runtime with battery storage.

TOBOR BESS can supply backup power, store solar energy and reduce generator runtime. The right system depends on your peak load, outage duration and charging supply. We calculate savings from your site data.

Worked example · assumed inputs

Compare the same energy delivered.

A 30 kW average load running eight hours a day for 300 days uses 72,000 kWh per year. This example explains the calculation; it is not a measured customer result or a project quotation.

The energy-cost difference is not net savings or a payback estimate. Include maintenance, auxiliary consumption, degradation, finance and replacement costs. Eight continuous hours at 30 kW requires 240 kWh delivered, plus capacity allowances for losses and operating limits.

Start with power. Then size the energy.

These are starting points based on generator apparent power and an assumed 0.8 power factor. They do not establish backup duration or motor-start capability. Confirm load, usable kWh, transfer time and charging constraints before selecting a model.

Check the installation and compliance requirements.

Reducing diesel runtime does not automatically remove monitoring, permit or operating obligations. Confirm the requirements for any retained generator and the proposed battery installation with the relevant authority and your project engineer.

Operator questions, answered.

Can a battery replace my diesel generator?
It can serve loads within its rated power and usable energy, provided it has enough time and power to recharge. Long outages, motor starts and critical loads may require additional capacity or retained standby generation. Size the system from interval load data and outage records.
How fast does TOBOR BESS transfer during an outage?
Transfer depends on the model and installation. MTX Hybrid specifies under 10 ms; MTX Standard restarts in about 30–40 seconds. PTX and CTX use site-engineered PCC switching. Confirm sensitive-load compatibility and any UPS requirement in the project design.
What is the running cost of DG versus BESS?
For diesel, divide fuel and operating expenses by measured kWh delivered. For BESS, include charging electricity, conversion losses, auxiliary consumption and maintenance. Compare installed capital costs and replacements separately. There is no universal per-unit cost.
Does installing BESS remove CEMS or other compliance requirements?
Do not assume an automatic exemption. Check the applicable official directions and site consent conditions, particularly if a generator remains as standby. Battery installation also requires an electrical and fire-safety assessment.
How long is the payback period?
Simple payback is incremental installed project cost divided by annual net cash savings. Fuel use, charging tariff, operating hours, solar production and system size determine the result. TOBOR needs site data before estimating a payback period.
